Adam Selzer

Adam initially started Type Foundry in 1997 after moving up to Portland from San Luis Obispo, CA. He has been fortunate enough to work with M. Ward, Loch Lomond, Laura Gibson, The Decemberists, John Weinland, The Sort Ofs, Zooey Deschenal, Mike Coykendall, Nick Jaina, Pt. Juncture WA and Corrina Repp, along with many other artists. He often draws on a wide swath of musicians in the Portland music community to fill out instrumentation on projects. For a more complete list of records he has worked on feel free to contact him.

In addition to recording, Adam plays guitar, sings and produces for the band Norfolk & Western, and plays bass and guitar for M. Ward.

Jason Powers

Jason has been part of Type Foundry since 2000 when he moved down to Portland from Olympia, WA. In Olympia, Jason studied recording and electronic music at the Evergreen State College, eventually interning at Yoyo Studio where he worked with bands such as The Mountain Goats, The Need, and The Microphones as well as participated in live recording of two YoYo A Go Go festivals. At Type Foundry he's recorded projects by the likes of The Decemberists, Au, Blue Cranes, Grails, Holy Sons, Last of the Juanitas, Wet Confetti, Nick Jaina, The Places, and Gil Landry, among many others. Along with recording, Jason also works as a live sound engineer, having been employed at local club Holocene for the last three years, as well as touring with Talkdemonic and Matthew Dear and his Big Hands.

Jason considers himself more of an engineer than producer, and generally strives to accurately document the live performance of a band in the space.

Jeremy Romagna

Jeremy recorded bands at school, in his basement and later at the Portland Robot Steakhouse before joining Type Foundry in 2002. Drawn to recording through an interest in hi-fi and electronics (as opposed to "music" or "bands"), Jeremy enjoys the challenge of satisfying the specific vision of the band, if not faithfully re-creating the aural aspect of a live performance. (In other words: 98% engineer, 2% producer.) You will be discouraged from adding percussion tracks.

Jeremy also really likes metal, as seen in his recordings of bands such as Siberia, The Get Hustle, Silentist and his own band Jonny X and the Groadies.

Dylan Magierek

While Dylan has a broad background in the music industry - Badman Recording Co. label founder, studio owner, Universal Music Group rep, and music biz lecturer - his true love is recording, producing and mixing records. His varied credits range from Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon / Red House Painters), Erlend Oye (Kings of Convenience) to Call and Response and The Mother Hips.

In speaking of producing and the process of recording, Dylan states, "My goal is to have a band or artist leave with an album that is beyond their expectations. Getting energy and the live, original feel of the songs onto tape is essential. I'm a big believer in spending time with the band before they get into the studio (if they are looking for that) and bouncing ideas around that may add a little something stronger to the songs. This can get everyone on the same wavelength (and help shave time off the clock in the studio) and assist us in going in with a roadmap of what they want to accomplish. In the end it's all about artists being excited about their album."

Here's what Dusted Magazine had to say: "Badman founder Dylan Magierek, who has shown his recording skill by making Mark Kozelek's solo material ring somehow far fuller than one thought vocals, an acoustic guitar, and some AC/DC covers might possibly sound, can again take a deep bow here. It would be wonderful if everything Badman put out was recorded by Magierek..."
